On 18th April 2018, The Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO), a government-owned corporation, responsible to print and mint the Korean banknotes, coins, government documents and Olympic medals, honored the world famous Kpop act EXO with commemorative medals.
The faces of EXO members Xiumin, Suho, Lay, Baekhyun, Chen, Chanyeol, D.O, Kai and Sehun were engraved on the medals using the latest technology to prevent forgery. The coin also bears EXO's logo on the back along with a phrase. The medals are kept for display at SMTOWN Coex Artium in Seoul.
KOMSCO announced the EXO medals will be of two versions. Both with same design. The special package medal is made of silver, weight - 31.1g, purity - 99.9%, diameter - 40mm, shape - round. The medals will be sold in limited quantities including 100 sets. The pre-orders will start from 23rd April
The idols were awarded in recognition of contribution to the global spread of Korean Culture (Hallyu wave) by setting a record of over one million in sales of four full length albums which makes them a quadruple million seller.
The band had recently celebrated their 6th year anniversary on April 8, 2018. In such short span, the band has made several achievements and the records they set is so high that other kpop bands use that as the standard for their success.

EXO holds 24 daesang awards, the highest award count ever. Known as the daesang harvester machine.
Performed three sold out concert shows in front of 150,000 fans at Tokyo Dome
Quadruple million seller with four full length albums released.
Received the Honorable Prime minister award.
The only kpop band to ever have their song featured in the world renowned Dubai water fountain.
The only kpop band to perform at the 2018 Olympics held at Pyeongcheong.
