Blackpink's DduDu DduDu Becomes The First&Fastest Kpop Group Music Video To Reach 1.1B YouTube Views



Ddu-Du Ddu-Du by Blackpink released on June 15, 2018 becomes the fastest and first kpop group music video to gain a stunning 1.1 billion views in YouTube, and is currently the most viewed music video by a Kpop group. The track acts as a lead single for the group's Korean debut extended play Square Up.


The music video became the most viewed online video in the first 24 hours by a Korean act and second most watched music video of all time with more than 36.2 million views within the release, surpassing PSY's Gentleman. It gained a 100 million views in just 10 days, making Blackpink the only female kpop group to achieve the feat in such short amount of time.


Billboard describes the song as a "Fierce hip-hop track overflowing with charisma". Forbes wrote about the song composition as "crisp trap beats, breezy synth hooks and infectious vocal melodies". Rolling stone describes the song as "a feat of bonkers, maximalist creativity that includes the best use of a tank in a music video since Master P's Make 'Em Say Uhh!" and listed the song as the eighth best music video of 2018.


During the first hour of release, the song debuted at #1 on South Korea's 5 major music charts and achieved the perfect all-kill status. The song topped in Gaon Digital Chart for three consecutive weeks.


The song is certified gold by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on August 2019 and certified platinum by Gaon for selling 2,500,000 certified downloads.
